Knot 6- How To Tie Double Half Hitch Knots (Vertically)

EQUIPMENT

COTTON

I use traditionally styled Macramé cotton cord which is available in many sizes and types on shop page.

DOWELs AND RINGS

This is what you tie your knots onto. It is popular to use a wooden dowel, stick or branch to make wall hangings. For this tutorial, in the pictures, a 7cm diameter dowel is used.

YOUR HANDS

Unlike crochet or knitting, macramé does not require any “needles”. You only need your hands to tie knots.

Great for introducing new colours to a piece or for creating the appearance of a double row of horizontal knots in a straight line. Often used in macrame wall hangings

  1. Measure and cut a length of coloured cord

Take two vertically hanging cords and tie two half hitch knots

Unlike the Diagonal Double Half hitch knot, for Horizontal Double Half Hitches, you must choose the next set of vertical hanging cords to tie your follow-on knots to each time.
