*This Pattern is my own, I have developed it especially for anyone who wants to learn how to DIY a Macramé Plant Hanging. I give permission for anyone to make it for themselves, having said that, this pattern is only for personal use (by individuals). All I ask is that, if you loved and want to support me making more videos, let me know, share the love!
This Macramé Project, unlike crochet or knitting, does not require any “needles” and instead just your hands to tie knots. This Pattern in particular doesnt even require you to have a metal ring as the lop to hold the plant hanger up is strong when tied with spiral knots.
In this tutorial I use a non traditional styled Macramé Cord Known as "Seriously soft Single Ply". This is available in my shop here. It is a high quality, soft and easy to use cord and it unravels gently should you want to create a super smooth and beautiful tassel fringe.
Cord featured in This project can be brought HERE>>>
You will NOT need a metal or wooden ring to make this hanger Just 5mm or 4mm Macrame cord
I have filmed this video at my desk with it raised at an angel, although, normally when making bigger pieces I use a clothes rail and hang my dowel, so work standing up.
Macramé supplies needed:
This project has designed to be super quick and super easy so anyone can make there first hanging planters :
• 5mm United Knots Seriously Soft Single Ply cotton
Exclusive and available at my Macrame Cord shop - Just click to browse supplies (see details above)
1. BIG SHARP SCISSORS- I use these Fiskars scissors. They are 24cm long, dress makers scissors and they’re super sharp and dangerous! But even 6mm yarn gets snipped up quick with these. I love them. Can’t be without them. You can get the ones I love on this link
And if you do decide to buy a pair from this link and via amazon they give me some (£) as I’m an amazon associate now! (swanky I know)
Macrame Plant Hanger Measurements - need to Knows
Measurements in this video are for making a Macrame Plant hanger that is approx 40inches/ 105cm in length from top loop to tassel end
Measurements are based on using 5mm ingle ply cord, but should be ok for 4mm Cord also
Measure and Cut:
5 x 4 Meter Lengths (39 inches, 13.2 feet)
1 x 5 Meter Length (196 inches, 16.4 feet)
Please note that after you have measure and cut these lengths you will then fold them in half to work on them so they will be a lot shorter when making the hangers arms.
There will be some excess left so you can make your bottom tassel as long or as short as you would like
*See video for my recommendation
